HISTORY
A two-owner boat, this vessel was purchased from the factory in 1979 as a “Sailaway” – it only had the rigging, engine, bulkheads, floor and tanks. The first owner never finished building the interior. The second owners purchased it in 1993 and finished building it while living aboard with two children for 7 years. They sailed in extensively in San Francisco Bay, the Delta and along the northern coast. It is capable of sailing around the world – as so many Westsails have.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The interior was custom-designed. It is unlike any other Westsail 42. The owners used ash as the main wood – to create lightness – with rich teak trim. The floor is hand-laid strips of teak and maple over marine plywood. Hatches were carefully cut in the floor to provide easy access to all tanks, bilges, pumps, steering, and shaft. To maintain spaciousness, the owners used fold-up tables instead of a fixed main table that steals space. The floor was cut-down to allow 6’4” head space. The galley is a chef’s delight with storage everywhere within reach, a gimbaled gas stove, microwave, deep double stainless sinks, ample counter area and drawers for every implement. Lighting is bountiful from 6 large cabin windows. There are numerous handholds for security underway. Eight can sleep comfortably – more if they are kids.
